I live in the small town of Pargas in the southwest archipelago of Finland, not far from Turku. In my work I have specialized in thrown woodfired stoneware. Working with this old technique is both interesting and challenging. The kilns have to be built and maintained, the wood chopped and the ware packed with regards to the draft in the kiln. Finally the firing can take up to two days through. All this leaves its traces in my pots.
